Introduction: Welcome to the very first blog post for Beachy Munchies Farm! We’re thrilled to share our journey with you as we build a sustainable micro-farm right here in Yuma, AZ. Our space is small but we can accomplish so much! Our mission is simple: grow food in the desert, share it with others, and inspire our community to do the same.
The Vision: At Beachy Munchies Farm, we believe that healthy food should be accessible to everyone. Whether it’s fresh produce from our garden or eggs from our chickens, we’re creating a space where food is grown with care, creativity, and community spirit. We want to show that even in the desert, it’s possible to grow and share sustainable, fresh food.
Our Story: Our 14 year daughter helped us come up with starting a nonprofit for the community. Our family has always been passionate about food. That’s why we decided to take action and start Beachy Munchies Farm. Along with our small garden, we’re raising chickens for eggs, which we hope to share with our neighbors and others in need.
We’re also introducing a new initiative: a donation cart. This cart will sit outside our home/micro-farm, offering a place where neighbors can drop off any extra food they have—whether it’s citrus from local trees or surplus produce from their gardens. Anyone can also stop by to pick up what’s available, free of charge. We hope that through this cart, we can create a simple, yet meaningful, way to help our community share food.
We will share more about our cart soon!
What We’re Doing: Right now, we’re focused on growing our garden, raising chickens, and collecting donations through our cart. We plan on using the cart not only to share excess food from our farm, but also to offer donations from our neighbors.
In the future, we hope to have volunteers help pick up extra food from people’s homes—especially from snowbirds with citrus trees—and bring it back to the cart. This will help ensure that no food goes to waste and that it gets into the hands of those who can benefit from it.
Join Us: We invite you to follow our journey, share your own food, and get involved. Whether you want to volunteer, donate, or simply stay updated on our progress, we’d love to have you as part of our growing community. Together, we can make a difference by supporting each other and sharing what we have.
Conclusion: Thank you for joining us on this exciting adventure at Beachy Munchies Farm. Stay tuned for more updates, gardening tips, and stories from our farm. We’re excited to share our journey with you and work together to make Yuma a more sustainable and connected community!
